The Beginning of Belief

Belief is a powerful tool in your journey. We are made of belief. We take these beliefs on throughout our lives to understand the unknowable totality of reality, and make it a little more bearable. This is Heuristics in play – rules of thumb we use so we’re not thinking at 100% capacity every minute of every waking day.

It’s easy, it’s automatic, but this does not mean it has to be done that way.

Now you have your outline for what you’re trying to achieve, the comfort zone is going to appear more and more appealing to you the further you stray from it. This is the Ego’s way of trying to keep you safe.

I am not here to say ‘kill your ego’ – it’s just trying to keep us alive – what I am saying is to manage and control it. Let’s be intentional with our desire to survive. Your desires will not harm you (and if they might, we may need to relook at them).

So today, we’ll look at some common ways your self-survival instinct will try and tempt you back to the norm. We’ll lay the framework to understand where these stories come from, and we will implement Free-Writing to work through these stories and rewrite them to be in service of us.

Below you’ll find the PPC e-book “Hitting The Wall”:

Task: View or download ‘Hitting The Wall’, find a belief which feels like it may be part of your reality, and start Free-Writing about it. You can use the prompts, or create a question of your own. This is an iterative process, so come back to it any time you feel a story may be creeping in to bring you back to square one.

Also, use The Group any time you feel you need some outside perspective. We all have stories which seem so real to us, but for others it’s way easier to see them as just that – a story.

See you in the next one.
